Monsieur Bleu

They have often made this strange and penetrating dream .... An elegant, charming and cultured gentleman who knew how to make himself available every day and often very late at night… A gentleman who worked, exhibited, cooked, sang and sometimes even danced ...

Meet Monsieur Bleu — the restaurant which defies English translation from French and is elegant cuisine in a contemporary setting, personified.

Situated inside the iconic architecture of the Palais de Tokyo, with a full frontal view of the Eiffel Tower, and a patio on the quay of the Seine River, this chic neo-brasserie offers a simple, fresh menu, created using traditional ingredients — and executed to perfection.

The décor here has been artfully thought-out with attention to detail and a subtle touch; in a palette of grey, green and gold, accented by marble & gold decorations, velvet and white-padded chairs (indoor vs outdoor) and black lacquer tables, all housed against the backdrop of a beautiful dining room and an impressively high art-deco ceiling.

Plates range from delicate entrées of Ceviche of sea bream & passion cucumber, and Lobster ravioli paired with green curry broth; to robust mains of Caramelized Black Cod, grilled vegetables; Roasted chicken with morels and yellow wine; and the classic Beef fillet "tradition" with pepper or béarnaise. Signature desserts are a tantalizing mix of Pavlova with red fruits and Bourbon vanilla millefeuille

It’s an adult setting, and definitely 100% chic — which is why it’s a favourite with the fashion set, as well as investors, lawyers and banker-types — but every Saturday and Sunday, Monsieur Bleu also offers a Family Brunch from noon to 4pm, with special treats to tame the troops and DJ tracks of Soul, Funk and Disco to distract them.

Perfect for: A classy food affair in a fancy art-deco setting; or al-fresco dining on the terrace with a magic, unfettered view of the Tour Eiffel herself.

What to order: For those who enjoy classic French fare, go for the Lobster ravioli to start, followed by the classic Beef fillet "tradition" with pepper or béarnaise; and the Bourbon vanilla millefeuille for a deliciously light finish.
