It’s almost mid-week —  so if you’re looking for a place which ticks the boxes for a casual business meet out-of-the-office, a quick catch-up with a friend — or just a cool location to work from with excellent coffee + Parisian street scenes to boot... then welcome to Partisan Café.

Perched on a corner of the Rue Turbigo in the 3eme, just steps away from Arts et Métiers metro, this spot offers a light and airy space where you can grab a good takeaway brew — light or dark roast — tap away on your Mac, or settle in for a chat; all in modern surroundings and with a healthy buzz around, but with enough peace and quiet to actually hear yourself think (and allow another person to talk).

The clincher here is that this place somehow manages to stay super cosy, contemporary and convivial — without being too loud or crowded — which in Paris is pretty rare.

Thanks to its floor to ceiling, retractable windows which — in summer open up to transform into a type of breezy, indoor/out terrace — this luminous, little gem is also beautifully bathed in natural light, even in winter, and offers great people-watching and street-gazing to boot, from the comfort of the long, wooden, communal breakfast table at its center, set with rows of stools; so there are plenty of options to sit or stand — all of which adds to the ambience.

The décor is sharp, modern and minimal — think: glass, light wood, metal, black finishings, exposed brick walls and some concrete — so there’s a trendy, professional atmosphere to it, without being too clinical, and it gives the impression that you’ve got plenty of room. There are even a few close-knit tables arranged to one side, in case you really want to settle in for the long haul, or have a little more privacy for a work meet, away from the main table.

It’s not exactly a co-working space, but it’s got good WiFi and is surprisingly laptop (and meeting) friendly, so you’ll often find an interesting mix of designers, writers, photographers, artists and trendy locals congregating here at every hour.
